Mr. Mom

The past couple of days I have had to do the Mr. Mom thing...a couple of posts/articles that I read recently, (one in regards to Monday Night Football and the commercial that was aired, and one during the Kerry Campaign in regards to Laura Bush), came back in my mind as I was driving to work today. One of those was from sistersophist, and her take on the MNF and housewives....read her post here, http://sistersophist.blogspot.com/2004/11/shame-on-you-abc.html.

The media as sistersophist points out, "Of course, ABC wouldn't even consider airing the kind of stuff that propels my day", do not really project what an actual stay-at home goes through.

Here is the Heinz-Kerry blog post from Michelle Malkin http://michellemalkin.com/archives/000690.htm.

The reason these came back into my mind has to do to the fact that my wife took ill this past week for a couple of days. I had to sign-off from the laptop at home, and do the stay-at-home Mr. Mom. Well the Mr. Mom thing for a couple of days is not the easiest of tasks, for all those that think stay-at-home mom's do not have a real job (ahem! Mrs. Heinz-Kerry). The day just does not end, from the time you get up to the time you go to bed, it is not the easiest of jobs to do either.

Cleaning the house, feeding the kids, getting them washed up, school-work, homework, washing the floor & dishes. Oh yeah, also trying to remember the bus schedule for the two that attend school. Forgot that twice, my son walked home the one day, the bus driver for my daughter was at the edge of the drive-way honking the horn, while I was on a conference call for work. I had to sprint out to the bus, because they do not let kinder-aged kids off the bus unless the parent is there.

So for those young people that are reading this, and think that a stay-at-home mom does not have a job, think again. I count it as a blessing in my life, that I grew up with a stay-at home mom that was there for us each day we came home. Also, that my wife stays at home. Does she have a job, most definitely, and it is not the easy one in the family.

I know that not all parents can have a parent stay at home, I know that some mom's have to go out of the home to work. I am not putting them down. Whatever situation Mom's deserve a great big hug. Young person, appreciate your Mom, do something special for your mom today, or on the weekend.

I know I am going to do something special for my wife....she deserves it, for the job that she does!

/til my next post....rj3b
